Community

Under co-owners Kathy and Larry Treankler, the mission of the Green Bay Blizzard is “To provide affordable family fun and an award-winning game day experience, while bringing families together and impacting our community.”

The greater Green Bay community is the heart and soul of this franchise, and as such, an unwavering dedication to giving back is one of the principle tenets of the Blizzard’s organizational philosophy. This outreach comes in many different forms, from player participation at school visits, youth sports programs, and a wide range of community appearances, to the involvement of local students and groups before, during, and after Blizzard games.

See community outreach highlights from the Blizzard’s 2023 season in the photographs pictured above. Initiatives are explained in further detail below.

  • School Visits
    • Players made trips to elementary schools in Green Bay and the surrounding area to read books to classes, spend time with kids while they ate lunch, play with students at recess, serve as guest speakers at assemblies, etc.
  • Kicks for Sticks
    • With our friends from Build Your Base, we are working to provide protein rich beef sticks to Green Bay area schools. Please email napralla@greenbayblizzard.com for more information!
  • Youth Sports Camps
    • As a football team, it’s important to the Blizzard to use sports to inspire, motivate, or make even the smallest difference in the lives of the kids players interact with. This is often done through youth sports programs – whether it’s our annual Blizzard Youth Football Camp, a YMCA basketball camp catering to people living with disabilities, playing football with kids at a local summer camp, etc.
  • Community Involvement
    • The Green Bay Blizzard are dedicated to being visible in the community this franchise calls “home” through community appearances. Players made weekly visitors at Green Bay’s “Farmers’ Market on Broadway” this summer; attended a local Juneteenth celebration; handed out Easter eggs to children at an event with Acuity Insurance; helped a small business raise money for charity with a dunk tank; gave out “free hugs”; etc.
  • “Big Check” Presentations
    • The Blizzard donate thousands of dollars each year to local schools, youth football programs, etc.
  • 5th Quarter
    • After each Blizzard game, fans have the chance to go out onto the field to meet players, get autographs, take pictures, and play catch.
  • Fans In-Game Participation
    • The Blizzard make it a point to involve fans – particularly local students and youth groups – every way possible before, during, and after games. Area schools form a “fan tunnel” for players to run through during pregame introductions; local individuals/school choirs perform the National Anthem; youth football or rugby teams face off at halftime; local bands and dance/cheer teams perform; kids participate in games and challenges on the field during timeouts and media breaks, etc.
