Blizzard Sign RB Kamal Cass

January 3rd, 2019

Running back Kamal Cass, who rushed for more than 4,000 yards during his distinguished career at NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico, has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard, head coach and general manager Corey Roberson announced.

The quick-footed, Cass, 5-11 and 185 pounds, ran for a collegiate career high of 276 yards in his last game with Eastern New Mexico. According to an article in the “Eastern New Mexico News,” Cass rushed for at least 100 yards in 20 games. He led his league in rushing in each of his final three seasons. Remarkably consistent, he rushed for 1,514; 1,191; and 1,443 in his final three years, respectively, and carried the ball more than 200 times in each of those seasons. He scored 46 rushing TDs. Cass was named a Division II All-American and LCS Offensive Back of The Year his senior season.

“Kamal gives us another big-play weapon,” said Roberson. “Like most of the players we have signed, he was extremely productive and consistent at the college level, and his statistics certainly indicate that.”

Cass, who was the New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year after rushing for more than 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns his senior season of high school, was also highly successful off the field at Eastern New Mexico. The broadcast journalism major was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society after maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.
