Zane Smith, a 6’3”, 300-pounder who played nose guard at NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision school Stetson University in Florida, has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard.
While at Stetson, Smith, a native of South Carolina, was a steady, durable performer who played in 41 games. As a senior, he started in every game except for two and made 13 tackles (including three for loss).
Smith's primary job was to occupy blockers so linebackers could flow to the ball. He finished his career with 28 tackles, 13 solo stops and two sacks. Following graduation, he played in two postseason all-star games.
“Zane is a quality big man, and you can never have enough of those,” said Roberson. “He’s big, strong and durable, and holds up well in the middle.”
