Jonte Berry, a 6-4, 320-pound offensive lineman with collegiate experience at both tackle and guard, has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard, first-year head coach and general manager Corey Roberson said.
Berry, who starred at Northwestern Oklahoma State, joins fellow Blizzard signee Bob Marco (6-4, 305) as early anchors of the Green Bay offensive line.
“Jonte is extremely strong, and has very good feet for such a big man,” said Roberson. “But what I really like about him is that while he’s a polite, mild-mannered young man off the field, he has a nasty streak when he plays.”
Nicknamed “Train Wreck” for how destructive he was while blocking in college, Berry, who played both tackle and guard his senior year, has reportedly bench pressed 385 pounds and squatted more than 600.
Off the field, Berry is a devout Christian who was heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes while in college.
Roberson will build a roster of up to 40 players prior to training camp in February. The roster will be trimmed to 25 for the season opener.
