Green Bay continue their homestand and will take on the IFL leading Arizona Rattlers (8-1) in week 12 of the season.
Arizona currently sits at the top of the IFL and are coming into Green Bay with a seven game win streak. Their last win was a 57-42 victory against the Cedar Rapids Titans, in which running back Darrell Monroe lead the offense. Monroe ran for 107 yards on 20 attempts and had three touchdowns. Quarterback Jeff Ziemba also had a good game with 124 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 40 yards and a touchdown. The Rattlers were 6 of 8 on third down conversions and only allowed Ziemba to be sacked once.
Arizona limited the Titans to just 56 yards rushing and forced three turnovers on the night. Defensive back Allen Chapman and Keith Trumps both had an interception and defensive lineman Chris McAllister forced a fumble. Trumps lead the team in tackles with nine and linebacker Justin Shirk had a sack and a tackle for loss. The Rattler defense stopped the Titans on third down 4 of 8 times and did not allow a first down on fourth downs as well. Arizona only gave up one penalty on the night and kicker Sawyer Petre went 1 for 2 on field goals.
The Blizzard got their first win of the season in a 47-25 win against the Nebraska Danger. Quarterback Bryan Hicks lead the offensive charge with six touchdowns and 201 yards. Hicks found wide receiver Kezlow Smith 5 times for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Jereme Jones also was a top target for Hicks as he caught 6 passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. B.J. Hill, who is normally on defensive, played his first game as running back and ran 12 times for 86 yards. The Blizzard were 4 for 5 on third downs and did not allow a sack all game.
Green Bay put the pressure on the Danger defensively as they only allowed 39 rushing yards all game and sacked the quarterback three times. Linebacker Robert Metz recorded two of these sacks and Brandon Boudreaux had the other. Defensive back Josh Jenkins had eight tackles and two tackles for loss, and Manny Asprilla broke up three passes.
The Blizzard will need to continue their pressure on the run game against the Rattlers on Saturday. Darrell Monroe leads the league in rushing yards per game and touchdowns, and Green Bay will have to keep him in check. On the other side of the ball, Bryan Hicks will look to continue his momentum from the last game. Hicks faced the Rattlers in week 9 and will have his second look at the Arizona defense.
This Saturday is Thrivent Financial Live Generously Night at the Resch Center and kick off is at 7:05 p.m.
