Cedar Rapids Titans
The Titans are coming off a week 1 loss to the Nebraska Danger and are looking to rebound against the Blizzard. Cedar Rapids kept the game competitive for its entirety, but fell short in the 3rd quarter when they were outscored 4-14. The Titans will look to continue their dangerous pass offense with quarterback Jake Medlock, who threw two touchdowns last game. The Titans will also look to rely on kick returner Raphael Lawson-Gayle, who had 76 yards returning last week, to give them good field positions every possession. Lawson-Gayle made the Blizzard training camp through the open tryout in October, but joined the Titans after not making the final roster for Green Bay.
Green Bay Blizzard
After the loss to Iowa last week, this is a huge game for the Blizzard. If the Blizzard want to contend this year in this six team league, they must capitalize and win this game. The Blizzard can go 1-1 after Friday, if the defense can continue their pressure and aggression from last game. The Titans gave up 3 sacks against the Danger and can give up even more to the Blizzard if Josh Francis and Sean Daniels play as well as they did last week. On the offensive side, the Green Bay run game and running back Jasen Oden Jr. will have a huge impact on the game if they succeed. If the run game works as planned, it will set up big plays for quarterbacks Christian Lemay and Raymond Cotton as well as the Green Bay pass offense.
Players to Look For
For the Titans, look for Raphael Lawson-Gayle to have a statement game against the Blizzard and be dangerous when returning the ball. Also, look out for quarterback Jake Medlock to continue to pass the ball with efficiency against the Green Bay secondary.
For the Blizzard, the defense will be the key to this game. Watch out for the Sean Daniels and Josh Francis combo to rack up multiple sacks and tackles this game. Blizzard veteran B.J. Hill will also look to be elusive on kickoff return and continue to setup the the offense in great field position.
