The Blizzard will travel to Arizona, where snow can not cancel the game, next week to take on the Rattlers. Green Bay will continue to look for their first win of the season and the first win under head coach Corey Roberson.
Arizona (5-1) are sitting at the top of the standings after a big win against the Sioux Falls Storm. Running back Darrell Monroe was the key player of the game as he rushed for 126 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Jeff Ziemba also had a nice game as he threw three touchdowns and only one interception.
The Rattler defense had two interceptions from Nathan Lindsey and Akreith Brown, and also pressured the Storm with two sacks and four tackles for loss. Kicker Sawyer Petre went 0 for 2 on field goals and the team struggled with penalties as they commited 10 in the game.
Green Bay had their game last week postponed due to the snow storm that hit the midwest. The team last played on March 24th and is now coming off three weeks of rest in which the team has made numerous roster changes. On the offensive side, the Blizzard have released quarterback Raymond Cotton and have brought in Bryan Hicks to lead the offense. Hicks played at Southwestern University for four years and has indoor experience with the Quad City Steamwheelers. Serge Trezy has taken over as the primary running back and will be paired with James Ward Jr. from Assumption College who was signed last week.
Defensively, the Blizzard have signed linebacker Akim Francis from Baker University. Also, Jimmy Jean from Florida Atlantic University will join the defensive line against the Rattlers.
Look for the Rattlers to rely on running back Darrell Monroe for another big game as they continue to find success on the ground. Trezy will be equally as important as he will look to provide some yards and elusiveness of he is own against the Rattler defense. In addition to this, B.J. Hill is always a threat on kickoffs and will be looking to provide some instant offense for the team.
The new additions of Akim Francis and Jimmy Jean will be crucial players for the Blizzard defense as they will need to apply pressure to the Arizona run game and force them to pass the ball. Quarterback Jeff Ziemba only completed nine pass last game and has been susceptible to interceptions all year. By stopping the run game, the Blizzard can find themselves with chances for turnovers and mistakes from Arizona.
Kickoff in Arizona is at 8:05 p.m. CT on Saturday! Stop out to Replay Bar & Grill for the official away game viewing party!
