The Blizzard have been out of action for the last two weeks, but have made many changes to the roster and to the coaching staff over this time. Here is recap of the recent moves that the team has made so that you can prepared heading into week six of the season.
The most notable change that the Blizzard has made is the release of head coach Chris Williams. Williams ended his three year tenure at the team and will be replaced by interim head coach Corey Roberson. Roberson played nine seasons in the IFL and has been the defensive coordinator for the Blizzard since 2014.
Raymond Cotton will take over the quarterback situation following the release of Christian Lemay. Lemay began the season as the starter, but was battling for a spot against Cotton in the most recent weeks.
To help out Cotton, wide receiver Kezlow Smith from Lakeland University and experience with the Vikings was signed and hopes to be major pass target going forward.
The rushing game is also starting to look clearer as jasen Oden Jr., Washaun Ealey, and Tyler Scalzi have been released as well. Oden Jr. has been the primary running back for the team since the beginning of the season. Ealey was with the team for two games and Scalzi was picked up after the last game. This leaves Serge Trezy to be the main running back for head coach Corey Roberson going forward.
The team will be without offensive lineman Kenneth Woodget for the rest of the season as he was put on the season ending IR list on Monday. Woodget was originally on the short term IR list last week after suffering an injury against the Storm. Xavier Dampeer, Donovan Williams, and D’Mon Tucker will round out the offensive line and will look to protect Raymond Cotton.
Lastly, kicker Jeff Budzien was released on Monday as well. Budzien played three games with the Blizzard and scored 13 points for the Blizzard. Jordan Endries will take over as the sole kicker on the squad after the change.
With these new changes in motion the Blizzard and Corey Roberson will look to get their first win of the season against the Cedar Rapids Titans this Sunday at home.
