The Blizzard (1-8) were defeated 62-26 by the Arizona Rattlers (9-1) in week 12, in which the Rattlers took an early lead and never looked back.
Green Bay received first, however started the ensuing kickoff lined off a Blizzard player and was recovered by the Rattlers. Arizona’s quarterback Jeff Ziemba got the scoring started with a three yard touchdown run and then fired a touchdown pass to Anthony Jones Jr. in the next possesion to give the Rattlers an early 14-0 lead.
Bryan Hicks and the Blizzard were unable to answer back due to two interceptions, and Jeff Ziemba tossed two more touchdown passes to make it 28-0 in the second quarter. Quarterback Tyler Johnson would get the Blizzard on the score sheet with a touchdown run of his own to make it 28-7.
In the last minute of the half, Jeff Budzien tacked on a field goal for Green Bay, however the kickoff was quickly returned by the Rattlers to make it 35-10. But, Budzien nailed 40 yard field goal to end the half 35-13.
The Rattlers opened the second half with a touchdown and Tyler Johnson responded with his second touchdown of the game to draw closer 42-20. The Rattlers would not look back and would go on to score three unanswered touchdown passes with one coming from Jeff Ziemba and two from Verlon Reed. As time expired, B.J. Hill scored a 6 yard touchdown run to set the final score as 62-26.
Jeff Ziemba had a huge day with six total touchdowns and 111 yards passing. Green Bay’s Bryan Hicks had two interceptions and Tyler Johnson had two rushing touchdowns and one interception. B.J. Hill ran for 91 yards on 17 attempts with one touchdown and also had 93 yards on kickoff returns.
Josh Jenkins led the team with seven tackles and Jimmy Jean and Robert Metz both got in on the one sack of the game for the Blizzard.
Green Bay will travel to Nebraska to take on the Danger on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Blizzard won in their last meeting against the Danger 47-25.
