In a rematch of last Friday’s thrilling come from behind win at Quad City by Green Bay, the Steamwheelers travel to the Resch Center to play the Blizzard again this Friday night.
The Blizzard are 3 and 2 on the season and are above .500 for the first time since May 23, 2015 when they defeated the Wichita Falls Nighthawks to move their record to 6 and 5. It was also the last time the Blizzard have won back-to-back games.
Quad City falls to 2 and 3 in their first season in the IFL. The Steamwheelers versus Blizzard rivalry goes back to 2003 which was the first season for Green Bay in the af2. Quad City was in their third season that year and were the top team in the league. The Blizzard and Steamwheelers have played 17 times with Green Bay holding a 9 to 8 record. The last time the Steamwheelers traveled to Green Bay was May 29, 2009 when they lost to the Blizzard in overtime 52 to 49 on a Bob Forstrom game winning field goal.
The Blizzard stand alone in 5th place in the IFL one half game behind the Tucson Sugar Skulls for 4th place. The Steamwheelers are tied for 6th place with the Nebraska Danger.
Friday’s game kicks off at 6:05 PM and is Kids Night sponsored by Kids Dental Experts, Fox 11 and WIXX. Kids under 12 will get in free with the purchase of a regular priced ticket. After the game there will be a laser light show.
