(Green Bay, WI) – Big games from Green Bay's quarterback and running back propelled the Blizzard to their first win of the season.

Green Bay struck first with a 1-yard touchdown run by Terrence Smith, and Iowa's Gabriel Rui responded with a 38-yard field goal to make it 6-3.

Blizzard QB Ja'rome Johnson rushed for a 2-yard TD to end the first quarter, making it 13-3 in favor of Green Bay.

At the start of Q2, Zach Reader tossed a 7-yard pass to Caleb Smith. Both kickers then traded field goals – a 23-yard kick by Green Bay's Logan Justus and a 21-yard score by Rui – to make it 16-13. After injuries depleted the Blizzard's secondary, wide receiver Shaquan Curenton stepped in at defensive back and grabbed a huge pick in Iowa's endzone.

Smith caught an 8-yard TD from Johnson in the final seconds of the second quarter, pushing the Blizzard ahead by 10 points at halftime, 23-13.

Johnson got the action started in Q3 with another touchdown run. Antonio Wimbush countered with a rushing TD of his own, but a failed extra point attempt kept the score 30-19, with the Barnstormers down 11.

Smith and Johnson continued their dominance for Green Bay as the game winded down. Smith ran in a 6-yard TD pass from Johnson, and then Johnson rushed for a 12-yard touchdown at the top of the fourth quarter.

Iowa's Reader and Smith connected for another touchdown at the end of Q4, but with less than a minute remaining, Green Bay ran out the clock on their way to a 44-25 victory.

With this win, the Blizzard improved to 1-2 on the season and the Barnstormers fell to 0-2.
