The Green Bay Blizzard will ride a two-game win streak into their matchup against the Quad City Steamwheelers on Friday, May 26. Kickoff at Vibrant Arena is slated for 7:05 p.m.
Green Bay (4-4) enters the matchup back at .500 after a much needed 57-41 victory against Iowa in Week 10. The Blizzard are back in the hunt for a playoff spot, needing a win to stay competitive in the very tight Eastern Conference playoff race.
With starting quarterback
Ja'rome Johnson sidelined with a knee injury,
Max Meylor made his first IFL start against the Barnstormers. The Blizzard offense was firing on all cylinders with Meylor under center, putting up 54 points on eight touchdowns. Meylor threw for four TDs and added three on the ground. Green Bay's defense also stepped up against Iowa, making timely stops and grabbing two interceptions, their first picks since Week 6.
Quad City (6-3) is coming off of a 49-63 loss in Massachusetts. The reigning Eastern Conference champions are led by quarterback EJ Hilliard, the 2022 IFL Offensive Player of the Year. Hilliard has thrown for 32 touchdowns and run for 18 more this season. The Blizzard defense will have their hands full trying to contain the electric QB and the Steemwheeler offense, which is putting up the fourth most points per game in the league this season.
Friday's contest will start a stretch of 6 of 7 games on the road for the Blizzard to close out the regular season.
Green Bay and Quad City will face off three times in the next eight weeks, with heavy playoff implications on the line in each matchup.
