On January 20, 2024, the Green Bay Blizzard held open player tryouts at the Kress Events Center on the UW-Green Bay Campus. Over 30 athletes came in to showcase their skills! Some were local talents, and others traveled from as far away as Georgia. They covered the full range of positions from quarterback to defensive back and even kicker.
The day began with warm-ups followed by drills, including pro agility, L drill, and broad jump. Each athlete's results are being tallied and will be sent to them! Every athlete gave 100 percent as they pushed each other to finish strong on every attempt.
After everyone had a chance to run the drills, the tryout shifted to individual drills by position and 1-on-1s. Here, the players would work directly with coaches, training staff, and each other. Their experience and athleticism was on full display as they competed.
Finally, at the end of the tryout, everyone huddled up, and the coaches thanked them for coming out and giving their full efforts. This concluded the open player tryout, but many stayed after to receive more insight and talk.
Now, as the coaching staff is reviewing notes on the tryout, Head Coach
Corey Roberson said, "we are very pleased with the turnout and talent we had. As we cypher through all the information, we feel comfortable saying we plan to sign someone from this tryout."
Thank you, and good luck to all the athletes who attended! And thank you to everyone who helped that day!
