The Blizzard (1-1) are on the road this week at Vibrant Arena at The MARK in Moline, Illinois, where they will face the Quad City Steamwheelers (1-0) this Saturday, April 6th. Kickoff is at 7:05 PM CST.
Green Bay is coming into the matchup off of a bye. The previous week, the Blizzard were triumphant in their first win of the young season over the Iowa Barnstormers. After an early deficit, Green Bay's Jalyn Cagle would return a kick and give the Blizzard the momentum they would need for a comeback victory, with a final score of 35-24.
Quad City is also coming into this matchup off of a bye. In the week preceding the bye, Quad City had their first game of the season, hosting the Sioux Falls Storm. The Steamwheelers would take an early lead, but Sioux Falls would tie the game late and send it into Overtime. After a Quad City touchdown, the Steamwheelers' defense would come up big with an interception to seal the game with a final score of 38-32.
Green Bay and Quad City have faced off 24 times in their history with 12 wins apiece. Quad City won two of the three matchups in 2023, each win at home and by a one-score margin. In Green Bay's home victory, the Blizzard won by 13 points.
In this Week 3 matchup, Quad City will have to try and stop Green Bay's
Max Meylor, who threw for two touchdowns and added 40 yards rushing and a touchdown in a Week 2 victory. Meylor's touchdown run came on a Read Option, where he fooled the entire defense and ran into the Endzone untouched. The Steamwheelers will also have to keep Jalyn Cagle in check. Cagle had a 42-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, which helped him earn Week 2 IFL Special Teams Player of the Week. Cagle also added 20 yards on six carries and the game-clinching touchdown. Quad City will also have to watch out for Green Bay's
Scean Mustin, who had 4.5 tackles, including a sack and a forced fumble against Iowa. With his performance, Mustin was named Blizzard Player of the Game in Week 2.
In order for Green Bay to be victorious, they will need to limit quarterback Judd Erickson who had 13 completions for 169 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown in Quad City's Week 2 matchup. The Blizzard will also have to watch the Steamwheelers' Edward Vander, who had nine rushes for 34 yards and two touchdowns while adding 31 yards on three receptions against Sioux Falls.
Just because the Blizzard are on the road doesn't mean you have to miss out on the action! Riverside Pizzeria (2822 Ramada Way, Ashwaubenon, WI, 54304) is hosting a watch party for the game this Saturday! If you can't make it to the watch party, don't sweat! You can also view the game on
