(Green Bay, WI) -
The wait is over…IFL football is back! The Green Bay Blizzard will open their 2023 season against the Frisco Fighters on Sunday, March 19th at the Resch Center. Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m.

Green Bay finished their 2022 campaign with a 6-10 record. They will look to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Head Coach Corey Roberson is optimistic about the team and what they can accomplish this year. "I'm pretty excited about the guys we have in," Roberson said. "I'm expecting us to be able to come out and compete. That's all we can ask for. Of course our end goal is to win the championship, but we're taking it one game at a time."

To do so, the Blizzard will need to replace several key contributors from last season, including wide receiver Keshaun Taylor who led the league in touchdown receptions. Returners Shaq Curenton and Steve Newbold, along with several rookies, will look to fill Taylor's production.

Fans should be interested to see who will be leading Green Bay's offense on Sunday. Quarterbacks Ja'rome Johnson and Max Meylor have battled for the starting position throughout training camp.

Roberson said he's excited about Johnson and Meylor. "I think we should see a difference in that position than the past couple of years. We have some mobile guys and some guys who can throw the ball. That's what this game is made up of, at the quarterback position."

Roberson said he's also noticed a difference in the offensive line from years past. "I think we have a different grind and grit to our offensive line. I'm excited to see what those young men can do," he said.

On the defensive side of the ball, second-year DB Tre Claybourne will lead a young secondary. Defensive end Deldrick Canty, who is entering his fourth season with the Blizzard, will anchor Green Bay's D-line. Though the starting defense is made up of mostly rookies, Roberson said he still expects them to play tough. "We have a big emphasis on being physical in all aspects of the game. I expect nothing less."

Frisco finished last season 15-3, losing in the Eastern Conference championship game.

Spectators will be treated to a WHITEOUT on Sunday afternoon. Snow will fall after every Blizzard touchdown. Bruiser snow globes and white bam sticks will be given out at the doors while supplies last. For $5, fans can enjoy a WHITEOUT food and beverage special that includes WHITE cheddar popcorn and WHITE cherry Gatorade. In addition, receive a free WHITE Jameson Beanie Cap upon purchasing a "Blizzard Bomber" mixer.
